Shelby Malakoff

H.B.A., J.D.

Shelby joined CRSB Law as an Associate Lawyer in 2021. As a law student, Shelby completed her Practice Placement and worked during the summer at CRSB Law. Her practice focuses on family law and child protection matters.

 

Shelby graduated with her Juris Doctor from the Bora Laskin Faculty of Law in 2021. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy and an Honours Bachelor of Arts in Political Science Pre-Law, with a focus on Northern Studies.

 

Born and raised in Northern Ontario, Shelby recognized the need for access to justice for Northern populations. While obtaining her law degree, she was a Project Coordinator for Pro Bono Students Canada, a national pro bono organization that provides free legal support to vulnerable communities facing barriers to justice and she led a Human Sex Trafficking project with Thunder Bay and Area Victim Services. As a lawyer, Shelby continues to be dedicated to serving vulnerable individuals, families and children as they engage with the legal systems by providing strategic and compassionate advocacy for her clients.

 

Outside of her career, Shelby is an active volunteer in her community with organizations such as the Thunder Bay Food Bank, Pro Bono Students Canada and PACE, an organization that provides community-based mental health and addictions services. In her free time, Shelby enjoys being outside fishing or camping, making pottery or training her dogs.
